Abstract. Pc1 geomagnetic pulsations (electromagnetic waves in the range of 0.2–5 Hz) are experimentally studied in connection with strong earthquakes. This is a part of the lithosphere-magnetosphere relations problem. The long series of observations from the catalogs of Pc1 and earthquakes were used in the study. It is shown that after strong earthquakes, the regime of Pc1 generation changes. It is displayed as a quasi-periodic (with a period close to an hour) modulation of the oscillation activity. The same effect is observed after nuclear explosions. The similar responses of magnetosphere to strong earthquakes and nuclear explosions suppose the uniform nature of these effects.
