Abstract. Processing and interpretation of magnetovariation observations at the “North Pole” drift stations have been fulfilled based on a new theory of complex magnetic induction vectors (MIV). The location of magnetic variation equivalent source has been found theoretically and by using neuron-net modeling. Taking into account the source location, a 3D simulation of geoelectric cross-section in the near-pole region of the Arctic Ocean has been conducted. As a result the geoelectric model of cross-section over a region-size area has been created and new properties of lithosphere structure up to 400 km deep have been revealed, which is of importance for the problem of origin of the Arctic Ocean.

Keywords: Arctic Ocean, geoelectric, magnetovariation profiling, 3D-simulation, neuro-net inversion.
