Abstract. A basic model and a computational algorithm are described for stress state evaluation of the layer. The model includes arbitrarily oriented fractures and non-uniform pressure field. The method developed allows to calculate the direction of fracture generation and growth in presence of altered pressure field.
Keywords: porous saturated medium, formation stress state, hydraulic fracturing, direction of fracture generation.
